Her first lead role as a performer was on the screen in Blue Car (2002), an independent movie in which she played a girl who had an affair David Strathairn as her high school teacher. Roger Ebert, a film critic, said that Bruckner was able to perform the challenging role without hesitation. Bruckner received nominations for the Independent Spirit Award for "Best female role in a film" for her performance in the film. She was brought up with two brothers and one sister. Hungarian is her first language, which she practices frequently to stay fluent. Bruckner is the Hollywood California native born to a Hungarian and Russian father, who separated from their mother earlier in life and was a child of a German paternal grandparent. The couple came together in Hungary and moved from Hungary to U.S. in 1984 through an asylum camp in Italy. The siblings of her are three sisters and a brother.
